Working closely with our networking agency, Heartsent offers a program of adoptions in Kazakhstan.
Adoption from Central Asia is an excellent choice for Heartsent families. Heartsent has developed a successful "teamwork" approach for the adopting families choosing to adopt from Kazakhstan, who complete a homestudy with Heartsent, then continue to work closely with our staff to compile their country dossier, and receive ongoing child referral assistance, travel information and support, and support and resources through the completion of post placement requirements. Once the home study is done, the teamwork begins as our adopting families contact our network program to complete their dossier and receive a child referral. We assist with the child referral process, by advocating for the family and providing local support while they are working with their placement agency. Heartsent forms a team approach with the family and child placement agency, by assisting with education and information concerning the child's health and medical information, and travel preparations once a child has been accepted by the adopting family. Although Heartsent has a network agreement with a specific and well established program in Kazakhstan, families can also work with Heartsent to complete an adoption using a child placement agency of their choice.
Heartsent works closely with the liaison program and family to ensure that the child or children referred have complete medical information, and to provide a more personal approach to the adoption process. Families have appreciated the personal touch that such a team approach offers, as well as the increased accessibility to caring staff and a quicker response time when questions arise. In Kazakhstan both girls and boys are able to be adopted, at all ages including infants. Children are able to be matched with their adoptive parents within about 8-10 months after paperwork has been submitted to the country. Adoption timelines vary slightly by region.
Kyrgyzstan adoptions have occurred since 2005. The program of adoptions in Kyrgyzstan have been suspended by the government of Kyrgyzstan pending revision of their system of international adoption. The government of Kyrgyzstan will begin the process of licensing agencies under the new system, probably in the fall of this year. Heartsent is applying to be one of the agencies licensed to work in Kyrgyzstan, and has already begun providing humanitarian aid in two locations in the country.
