HEARTSENT ADOPTIONS, INC. offers an adoption program in Guatemala!!! (currently on hold, please contact us for details about when this program will be opened again. We are very optimistic that Guatemala will be opening in the next few months!)

In 1998, Heartsent began working with partner agencies to complete adoptions of infants and toddlers in Guatemala. Only after a number of years of successful adoptions, and a lot of learning and careful planning, Heartsent established a direct program there in 2003. Identifying quality attorneys and a small baby home, Heartsent families began working with us to adopt their children. All of our families have successfully come home with their children, and several are coming through the program again for a second time!

HEALTH OF THE CHILDREN is excellent, even according to American standards. Families receive health reports, birth certificates and photos of their children at the time of referral, and updates are provided about every 6 weeks which include a physician report and the latest health status of each child.

BOYS AND GIRLS are available from Guatemala, from infancy to toddler ages. Most of the available children are in foster care, being well provided for by caring foster mothers and under the close supervision of the adoption attorneys in Guatemala. In the baby home, infants and also toddler girls and boys are available to loving homes!

QUALIFICATIONS TO ADOPT from Guatemala are more liberal than in many countries. Adoption in Guatemala is open to both couples and singles, and prospective adoptive parents of most ages can apply. We encourage all interested families and individuals to inquire about this program.

VISITING GUATEMALA may be possible after DNA testing has been completed. Heartsent has travel policies which are in place to safeguard adopting parents while they wait for their adoption to become final in Guatemala. We work closely with each family and their attorney, to determine what is best for them, for their child, and for the Guatemala adoption program. Attorneys vary in their openness to families traveling, and it is sometimes unsafe for families to travel early to meet their child. We have had success in our program by developing personalized travel policies which take into account the safety of the child and the success of the adoption.

THE TIME THAT IT TAKES to complete an adoption in Guatemala ranges from 5-7 months after a match has been made with the adopting family and paperwork has been submitted to the court. The time frame depends upon the court process and the attorney in Guatemala, as well as the placement of the child (foster care or baby home). Our lead attorneys are fantastic, hard working professionals who take great care with the children and perform their tasks with ethics and efficiency. Many of their cases have been done within 4 months of matching! In a country that has a history of ups and downs, our careful scrutiny of the adoption process and adoption attorneys assures the best possible timeframes while ethical processing standards are always upheld.
