Hello, my name is Chia-Ling, and I was born on December 27th, 2006.
As you can see, I am a sweet baby girl with chubby cheeks and a one-of-its-kind coiffure
What you cannot see is that I was born with Williams Syndrome – a rare genetic condition, characterized by a unique personality that combines being very social, extremely polite, empathetic, and verbally expressive, with high levels of anxiety; and also by mild to moderate mental retardation or learning disabilities, and medical problems. One common trait in children and adults with Williams syndrome is their love of music, and a higher rate of musicality than in the general population.
My nannies say that I already show traits of my endearing personality – I am very expressive, I give people big smiles, and it brings me joy to please them. I do get a lot of additional physical therapy, and I am trying hard, and the doctors are satisfied with my progress, my health and my development.
I will most likely need a lot of additional care while I am growing up,
but I want to have parents’ love as much as other babies!
