Thailand Waiting Children Program

The Children

The Thai adoption program of Heartsent Adoptions Inc. is conducted through the Child Adoption Center of the Thai Department of Social Development and Welfare (DSDW). Heartsent works with families to complete adoptions of children from the Thai Red Cross Children’s Home in Bangkok, a small nursery sponsored by the Princess of Thailand where the children receive excellent care.

We have beautiful waiting boys and girls from Thailand, age 18 months and older, with a wide range of needs. At this time, the waiting children from Thailand generally have moderate to severe medical needs. Available information about the child includes photos, medical and vaccination records. If you would like to learn more about our current waiting children from Thailand, please contact us.

Time Frames

Upon accepting a child and submitting your dossier to the Thai Red Cross, you can expect to travel in approximately 6 months. Additional Thai government processing must occur, resulting in an interview appointment with a panel of DSDW representatives in Thailand. Both parents must travel to take custody of the child, meet with officials, and complete required adoption and immigration paperwork (if you have previously adopted a Thai child, it is possible to have a DSDW official escort the child to the U.S., with the family paying all travel expenses). The typical length of trip to adopt a child from Thailand is 2 weeks.

Parent Eligibility

The adoption laws of Thailand require that only couples be allowed to adopt a child from Thailand. The Thai Red Cross Children’s Home stipulates an age range of 25- 45 years for adopting parents. For those adopting older children, a minimum 15 year age difference between the younger parent and the child is required by Thai law. Couples must be married at least 2 years and preferably be childless. Family incomes are carefully scrutinized for assurance that a family can make sound economic provision for the adopted child. There is no specific income amount required, but the family should be able to show security and stability in their income level.
