If you are looking to adopt a newborn, then the Domestic Program is the one for you! Heartsent Adoptions, Inc. provides private, infant adoption services. We are happy to provide and assist you with the home study, locating an attorney, advisement and relinquishment services, ICPC, post placement services, and many more.

Program Overview

General Eligibility
  • Couples, single men and women, same-sex couples, and non-traditional families may adopt domestically
  • Some adoption professionals use the age guideline of under 60 years old, but there are exceptions

The Cost
The total cost of a domestic adoption can vary due to the attorney chosen and expectant mother donations, but a workable estimated total would be $25,000 - $40,000. There are ways to help finance your adoption including the adoption tax credit, the Adoption Assistance Program, employer adoption benefits, adoption loans and grants, and personal loans. Ask us about these options and we are happy to talk with you more about them!

The Expectant Mother Search
Heartsent works directly with expectant mothers, and some of our families select from an array of incredible adoption attorneys in California we recommend to assist them with the expectant mother search. Heartsent also has connections with agencies in other states to help connect with an expectant mother. This process can take from six months to two years, but typically an expectant mother is located and matched with the adoptive family within one year.

After an expectant mother is located and the match is accepted on both sides, you will work with your adoption professional/attorney and the expectant mother’s representative to handle monetary matters regarding expectant mother’s living expenses, costs of the adoption process, prenatal care, insurance, other pregnancy concerns, and facilitating an agreement between the expectant mother and yourself regarding future contact once the child is born.

If the expectant mother is located out of state, you will likely travel to that state once the child is born. Sometimes you may remain there for one to two weeks until proper paperwork has been completed and permission to travel has been received. Please contact your case worker about if you need to take this extra step and how Heartsent can help!

Happy Ending!
After you are home with your child, Heartsent will assist with the finalization of your adoption and post placement reports. Most states require one to six post placement visits with your social worker prior to finalizing the adoption. More often than not, you can work with the same social worker who completed your home study! After approximately six months, Heartsent will help you file finalization paperwork with the court.
